Fairy Tales: Behind The Scenes

You may remember my nursey rhyme analyzation, “Nursery Rhymes: Behind the Scenes”. (If you don’t, give it a read, it’s pretty good if I may say so myself.) Now, I’ve moved on to fairy tales, and now, questions you might have about any princess will be answered!

Cinderella-Possibly one of the most famous fairy tales ever, Cinderella is one of the many wives of Prince Charming. (More on that later.)

I was recently discussing my next question with my friend and fellow blog writer. So here it comes… Drumroll please…

If the glass slipper was a perfect fit to Cinderella’s foot, WHY  DID IT FALL OFF?!

I admit, it wasn’t hard to answer this. I thought about it for only about a minute before coming to the perfect conclusion.

The two Wicked Stepsisters were, of course, highly jealous of the mysterious and beautiful young lady that turned out to be Cinderella who had stolen their chance at marrying Prince Charming. It was after Prince Charming and Cinderella had danced for several hours when the Wicked stepsisters came up with their brilliant plan. In between songs, Cinderella had an itch on her foot, so she slipped off her shoe to scratch it. The Wicked Stepsisters took this as an opportunity to slip some butter they’d scraped off a baked potato into the slipper in hopes of Cinderella slipping and humiliating herself. But just then, the clock struck twelve, and Cinderella had to run. The butter caused the slipper to fall off Cinderella’s foot, and that’s how Prince Charming tracked Cinderella down. And that it how the perfectly fitted glass slipper fell off of Cinderella’s foot.

This story tells us that nothing good comes out of revenge. If the Wicked Stepsisters had not tried to humiliate Cinderella, she would have left without any problems, and Prince Charming would not have been able to track her down.

Snow White- “Snow White” is a story about an annoying little girl that annoyed her stepmother, who was the queen, so much, that an assassin was sent after her, and then risked the lives of seven kind and innocent dwarves by entering their house uninvited…

Sorry, that’s how I interpreted the Disney movie. Carry on. Don’t listen to that. Ignore me.

Anyway, I have two questions about Snow White. So, question number one…

Why is Prince Charming (Yes, another one.) kissing a random, presumably dead girl?!

This was a bit of a tough nut to crack, but I got to it in the end.

First of all, Prince Charming isn’t his only title. He is also known as Doctor Charming, medical expert, and graduate of the Royal Medical School. Doctor Charming had heard that the girl he’d once met  and fallen in love with had bitten a poison apple and wanted to handle the situation himself. When he saw her in her glass jeweled coffin, he just wanted to make sure that there was absolutely nothing he could do to revive her, so he performed CPR. He did NOT ACTUALLY kiss a dead girl, but there was no way for the curse to know that. So she woke up and they were married, and they lived happily ever after…

Okay, next question.

Where did the Evil queen get a magic mirror?

It was a bright a sunny Sunday, and the Candy Witch as having a moving sale.

Yes, the Candy Witch from “Hansel and Gretel” is in the story too. Don’t interrupt.

Anyway, the Candy Witch was moving to a neighborhood where hungry little kids wouldn’t eat her house, so she invited all the near bye villains to her moving sale to get rid of all her junk and any candy Hansel and Gretel hadn’t eaten. The Evil Queen, hoping to find some old spell manuscripts, potion books, poison apple recipe books, and maybe even some leftover potion ingredients, left the dark and solitude of her castle to go to the moving sale. At the moving sale, the Evil Queen noticed an old mirror among the Candy Witch’s junk and couldn’t resist picking it up and looking at her beautiful face in the reflection.

“Mirror, mirror, in my hand, who is fairest in the land?” whispered the Evil Queen, and to her surprise, the mirror responded.

“I, the mirror, that lay in your hand, say you are fairest in the land.” Said the mirror. The Evil Queen, of course, took a liking to anything that said she was fairest in the land, and purchased it immediately for an amazing price. Pretty soon, she learned that the mirror was all-knowing, and used it to spy on people. And that is the story of how the Evil Queen got her magic mirror.

Sleeping Beauty-With this next question, I am going to, answer a question that applies for Cinderella, Snow White, and Sleeping Beauty, FYI.

The question: How is Prince Charming married to Cinderella, Snow White, AND Sleeping Beauty? Divorce? I think not! The answer: Ancient lineage.

Well, not quite ancient, but three generations of Princes Charming’s.

First came Prince Charming I, who married Cinderella. His son was Prince Charming II, who married Snow White and also went by Doctor Charming. Next, his son was Prince Charming III, who followed in the footsteps of his father and awakened Sleeping beauty with true loves kiss. To quote Uma, from Disney’s Descendants 3: “True loves kiss; works every time.”

Well, that’s all I’ve got to say for now. If I have any more questions to answer I’ll be sure to answer them.

Please note: In the picture it shows the Disney versions of Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, and Cinderella, but I only used them because it was the only option I had.
